About Guntersville State Park

Guntersville State Park

Guntersville State Park covers over 6,000 acres along the shores of Lake Guntersville in Alabama. The park showcases a diverse natural environment with its mix of hardwood forests, mountainous terrain, and the vast expanse of Lake Guntersville itself. Visitors have a variety of recreational activities to choose from, including hiking on its numerous trails, camping, fishing, and golf. The park's history features the development through the Tennessee Valley Authority, which helped create the lake as part of a large hydroelectric project during the Great Depression. Key landmarks include the panoramic vistas from the park's Lodge overlooking the lake, as well as the 25-mile trail system that meanders through striking forested landscapes. The flora and fauna here are notable, with opportunities to see deer, bald eagles, and an array of other wildlife making Guntersville State Park a year-round destination for nature enthusiasts.
